The Game UN:Me: A Psychological Horror That Blends Silent Hill with Among Us Mechanics

The recent Day of the Devs online presentation revealed several intriguing future games, but one in particular has seized attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience appears to blend the dread-filled setting of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us.

"This is a distinctive experience where a young woman harboring multiple human souls inside her must escape from a maze of the psyche," states producer Yasukazu Kawai.

Entering a Fractured Consciousness

In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed heroine who appears to be of teenage years. Inside her exist four separate souls, all possessing unique anxieties and drives. These souls can take over spontaneously, releasing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly.

Based on revealed gameplay, much of the action unfolds within a eerie hospital, though other scenes depict the main character navigating a abandoned church.

A World of Individual Dread

"What makes you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" asks game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Small rooms. Authority figures. Elements that seem trivial to others can trigger a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are unique to every individual."

The core gameplay loop involves managing whichever soul emerges at a particular moment. However, these identities will switch against your will as you play. During exploration, each soul's anxieties become amplified and assault the girl one after another. As the persona changes, so does the particular terror the player encounters.

Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Choice

At first glance, UN:Me shares striking aesthetic parallels with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is filled with orderlies all sporting the same face, with unnervingly wide grins. Figures in the lobby have enormous flowers growing from their heads are. Flowers are an ever-present element, contrasting natural beauty with supernatural dread.

Yet, UN:Me presents a singular twist. Players must determine which of the four souls inhabiting the protagonist is the "real" one. "All four souls asserts that the physical form belongs to them," explains a developer. "Throughout the game, you need to figure out who is real."

After a player believes a soul is fake, they must eliminate it. But, because every entity can deceive or hide the reality, it is very easy to make a mistake.

"Maybe you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," a voice states. "The final entity remaining might be a fraud. In any case, your choices are final."

UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed release date, but it is can be wishlist on platforms.
