The British player reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 as a result of a health issue she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

These plans will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together for the upcoming season.

The tennis professional underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required a visit from the doctor at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the deciding set against Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has been a concern at times this year.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 victories in the current season and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The initial agreement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
