Mohamed Salah Extends Statement to Squad, Says Curtis Jones
Jones has shared that Salah said sorry to the group of players following the controversy from his recent interview.
The Incident
He was omitted from a vital match following making accusations and suggesting his connection to the head coach had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the team's response was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
Jones also suggested that a competitor wanting to play is less of an issue. “It's clear there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the games following the situation. The player is convinced the forward's comments were never meant to cause disruption.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
