Despite embarking on their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are learning at a rapid pace. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS ought to be sufficient to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
